Obciniada Climbing Regulations
I. General Information
The Obciniada Climbing Festival is an outdoor sports event aimed at climbing and bouldering enthusiasts.
Liability Waiver: Signing this waiver is mandatory upon registration. For online registrations, it is considered signed by checking the box: "I agree with the event regulations and take full responsibility, as stated in the liability waiver."
Climbing Area – Pietrele Maghernitei is located in the Stânișoara Mountains, with access from the national road (Voroneț, Gura Humorului). The approach is on foot via a forest road and a mountain trail, taking approximately 40 minutes. Details regarding the access route, schedule, and parking will be published in due time by the organizers.
The area is newly discovered and still under development. Updates on the development process can be followed in real time on the event’s Facebook page.
II. Sign ups
Registration Validation
Registration becomes valid only after confirmation of the registration fee payment.
Presenting a valid ID is mandatory when collecting the participation kit.
Registration Cancellation
Refunds for fees paid online will be issued as a partial reimbursement to the bank account linked to the card used at the time of registration, according to the following conditions:
III. Lead Climbing Regulations
Climbing at your own risk : All participants must climb exclusively at their own risk. The organizers are not responsible for any accidents or injuries.
For experienced climbers only: Participation is allowed only for experienced climbers who:
Know how to belay safely.
Are capable of lead climbing routes of at least 6A grade.
Helmet wearing: Climbers must wear a helmet at all times in the climbing area. Helmets may only be removed if participants are at least 5 meters away from the climbing wall.
Respect:
Do not climb on a route that is already occupied.
Always make sure you are not standing directly under another climber.
Respect the order of entry onto climbing routes.
“Buddy check”:
Ensure that all equipment is in good condition and used properly.
Check each other before starting a route to ensure that the harness knot is properly tied, the belay device is correctly used, and the carabiner is securely closed.
IV. Bouldering Regulations
Participation Restrictions:
Bouldering is only allowed in a group of at least two people for safety reasons.
Participants without outdoor bouldering experience may only climb together with experienced climbers.
General Safety:
Spotting is mandatory, with a focus on protecting the head and neck.
Bouldering pads must be placed strategically to minimize the risk of injury.
Each participant is responsible for being informed and prepared for safe spotting and bouldering.
Clean and Climb participation:
Bouldering is only allowed for those who have attended Nicolae Durnac’s "Clean and Climb" presentation, to learn about ethics and nature conservation.
Avoid damaging vegetation or rock formations around the bouldering area.
Clean holds carefully, avoiding aggressive brushing that could damage the rock surfaces.
Route climbing:
Only one person is allowed on a route at a time.
Maintain a safe distance from active climbers.
Name changes
The transfer of a participant's registration to another person is possible and does not involve any costs. Any such modification must be communicated to the organizers via email (contact@obciniada.ro) no later than June 5, 2025.
Force Majeure
In the event that the event has already started, the registration fee is non-refundable.
In cases of force majeure (extreme weather conditions, natural disasters, emergencies), the organizers may decide to cancel or postpone the event without the obligation to refund the registration fee. However, the organizers may offer alternatives, such as a voucher for another event, rescheduling, etc.
VI. Rules of conduct
Respect for nature: The festival promotes ecological awareness and the conservation of natural spaces. All participants must act responsibly and reduce their impact on the environment.
Care for the environment: do not leave any waste behind, clean up, and take all trash with you.
Respect for others: Treat participants, organizers, and local residents with respect.
Following instructions: Follow all guidelines and instructions provided by the organizers and festival volunteers.
V. Personal Data Protection Policy
Details regarding the processing of personal data collected during registration can be found in the privacy policy published on the event’s official website.
Participants have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of their personal data in accordance with applicable laws.
Consent for the use of images and videos of participants is granted upon registration for the competition.
VII. Other provisions
The organizers reserve the right to modify routes, schedules, or other organizational details if necessary, with prior notice of any changes announced through available media channels.
Participants are required to follow all instructions given by the organizers, volunteers, and security personnel.
